If wearing barefoot shoes is good for re-establishing the connection between your feet and your brain, what about the sustainable connection between yourself and the Earth?
Every year, about 300 million pairs of shoes end up wasting away in landfills. Most standard shoes are made with plastics and other artificial materials that take anywhere from 3 to 4 decades to fully decompose. That is a long time, and that is a lot of shoes.
That is why we are building a better shoe with consciousness at the center.
Origo Shoes are natural footwear in every sense, shape, and form. We are committed to the planet, so that means putting natural materials and sustainability efforts first.
Footwear Gone Natural
Doing it differently starts with the materials that our shoes are made of, and that is why all of our materials are sustainably sourced throughout North America. We gather cow hides and make our corn starch soles in the US, and then process the leather and gather the rest of the materials in Mexico.
Each type of material comes with its unique benefits and environmental costs. Origo shoes are created with natural materials like cotton canvas, natural leather, vegan cactus leather, and corn starch to reduce our environmental impact.
Cotton Canvas - 100% biodegradable and breathable
Natural Leather - Sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group
Vegan Cactus Leather - Made from the nopal cactus and is 100% vegan
Corn Starch - Lowers carbon emissions and improves the biodegradability
Origo Shoes Sustainable Strategy
We minimize the need for long-haul transport of materials by keeping our entire supply and product chain within North America, near our production facility in Leon, Mexico. Each pair of Origo Shoes are crafted by skilled artisans in Leon.
Our smart packaging also eliminates excess waste and is free from single-use plastic. We use garden-compostable wrappers so that your shoes are protected as they are being shipped to you, and then you can turn around and safely dispose of them in the compost.
Saving the Planet One Shoe at a Time
Along with our sustainably sourced materials, we also directly donate to help with the reforestation of the Amazon. We have partnered with the organization One Tree Planted so that for every pair of Origo Shoes sold, a portion of the proceeds goes towards planting trees in the Amazon.
Feel Good About the Steps You Take
Our goal is to always be evolving in our sustainability efforts. With every decision that we make, we aim to reduce our carbon emissions and lessen our impact on the environment. We invite you to love the planet you walk on with a pair of shoes that support the integrity of your feet, and have a reduced environmental impact.
