El Huarache Ancho de Anya

I hesitantly bought two pairs of these shoes on sale, the black and brown. I have several huarache sandals from Mexico that I wear year round. Unfortunately, my feet are too wide for them and they pinch really bad. I also try my best to wear barefoot whenever possible. I measured my feet like 3 times before hitting purchase because I didn’t want to risk having to return them!!!

Well, they fit PERFECTLY. My husband brought them for me when he flew out to meet me on vacation and I hadn’t tried them on, but was hoping they would fit so I could wear them on our trip. Not only did they fit perfectly, I went the whole day walking around the Zoo and a park without feet pain!!! Now, I can wear my huaraches without pain in my feet and ankles! I might get the white pair next 😍

I chose these sandals to be used casually as well as for church or times when I would need to dress up more. They have not been a disappointment! They go with everything from shorts to slacks to dresses. The leather is high quality and will last a long time. I have been wearing them while teaching and my feet have been happy all day long. I am glad that I chose the wide because they are perfect for my 10.5 cm wide feet!! Definitely go down half a size for length. I am glad that I did that, or they would have been too long.

I was so hopeful about these shoes, that they had such detailed sizing for both length and width, and such positive reviews. My problem is that if I've paid $175 CAD I would like to reasonably be able to wear them straight out of the box without having to work so hard at it.

I've had these shoes in stretchers non-stop for 2 months since I've got them, as I was told by product support that the leather will stretch. I have wide feet with "high volume" (they're thick) and I've been fighting with these shoes like Cinderella's ugly stepsisters to get them on. What sucks is that the width of the toe box and length would be perfect, but I can't get them past the instep of my foot. Picture attached to review is the state of the shoe after having been in shoe strechers for 2 months.

My recommendation if you have feet similar size (~23 cm long, ~10cm at the widest, ~24 cm around the instep) is to go up to 7.5 W and spare yourself the suffering. Though I can't speak confidently if the instep will be any different, the 7W is a tight fit.

I'll be happy to update my review in a few weeks if the stretching goes well.

I am so pleased with my wide huaraches! I have always dealt with wide, high volume feet. All I used to wear was Birk’s Arizona and wide Sauconys. Even with these, I had to go up a half size just to get my feet in, but I’m glad I did. I have been wearing them for a couple weeks. They were quite tight at first. I had to wear them for just a few hours at a time to get them stretched out. Now they are so comfy and cute! Plenty of toe space, even in height. Super quality. I have the natural color. They smell funny from freshly tanned leather, but that’s fading. The color is getting a little darker, but that’s okay too. Customer service is great. Stop reading reviews and commit. You won’t be disappointed.
